A
series of pinholes begun in Vermont during an artist residency
at the Vermont Studio Center. As I was in Vermont in the Spring and
coming from having lived for many years in urban settings, I was struck
by the the untouched quality of nature in Northern Vermont. As I began
to shoot images, I started to notice a prehistoric quality in some
of the photos. Ultimately, I've tried to work to make the images seem
to be like an uncultured view of the world. That is, without any (or
many) preconceptions about what's important, what's beautiful, what's
safe or dangerous. This might be like the first views of a new born--which
just looks without judgement, without understanding. |
